The 2028 lacrosse recruiting cycle is underway, and it is moving faster than any class before it. Across both the boys' and girls' games, college programs are extending offers and locking in commitments at a pace that has coaches, parents, and players recalibrating their entire timelines.
The reason is a combination of forces converging at once. The NCAA's evolving recruiting calendar — designed in part to slow down early offers — has, paradoxically, intensified the scramble. With official visit windows and contact periods now more structured, programs feel pressure to identify and secure talent the moment a prospect becomes eligible to engage. Add in the transfer portal, which has made roster retention a year-round challenge, and coaches have every incentive to build their 2028 classes early and build them deep.
The result is a fast-and-furious environment where 14- and 15-year-olds are making decisions that shape the next decade of their lives — and where the high schools and clubs producing that talent are becoming recruiting pipelines in their own right.
The September Surge: 33 Commitments in 72 Hours
If anyone needed proof that the 2028 cycle is moving at a breakneck pace, the final weekend of September delivered it. Between September 19 and 21, 33 boys' commitments flooded in across the board — from blue-chip Ivy and high-major pledges to under-the-radar finds at the Division II and III levels.
Headline Pledges
- Ben Smith (Attack, Garden City, N.Y.) → Princeton — the highest-rated commitment of the weekend (89) and a marquee addition for the Tigers.
- Chase Aquino (Midfield, Hill School, Pa.) → Penn State — a 89-rated midfield pledge for the Nittany Lions.
- Myles Muzones (Attack, St. Paul's, Md.) → Johns Hopkins — an 88-rated attackman headed to Homewood.
- Kobe Genco (Attack, Eden-Springville, N.Y.) → Ohio State — an 88-rated attack pledge for the Buckeyes.
- Liam Bolduc (Defense, St. Mary's Annapolis, Md.) → Fairfield — an 88-rated defenseman for the Stags.

What It Means
The early read on the 2028 class is clear: the traditional prep powers and hotbed public schools are still the sport's primary pipelines, but the geographic spread is widening — with Colorado, Texas, and Florida all cracking the top 10. For college coaches, the message is the same as ever: get to these schools early, because the commitments are coming in fast and furious.
Rankings reflect 2028 commitments recorded in the 360LAX database as of September 2026. Counts represent committed players per high school.
